Richard Reading An Email

Acrylic painting of my quarantine partner reading an email, produced during lockdown. Time stood still during this period, which allowed for acute concentration and reflection. These welcome lockdown concomitants are depicted by the figure looking down, with all thoughts and emotions tied to the phone. The spacious pictorial structure and closed door, emphasise this subtle action, as well as the cat which remains unnoticed by the seater. Inspired by Vermeer’s ‘Girl Reading a Letter’.
