Requests for armour, furniture and jewellery are mounding, but Hephaestus refuses to take on any commissions. The palatial workshops have been eerily quiet. His behaviour is alarming.

He says these lowly commissions exalt technical skill which hampers the expression of his deepest, purest and most profound realms. 

Fine art is what he is pursuing now and - instead of hammer and anvil - his days are filled with mortal philosophy. We don’t understand him anymore.
